Darren R. Petronella, MS, CPRW

Career Pivot 123 LLC - Founder/CEO

As a Career, Educational, and College Counselor/Coach, Darren focuses primarily on career development and management, as well as higher education success. In his practice and in everything else he does, Darren strives to lead with empathy, kindness, positivity, and support – with a dash (or splash) of humor.


Darren earned a Master of Science degree in Education (Counseling) and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. He is a Certified Professional Resume Writer (CPRW), a New York State Licensed Real Estate Salesperson, a Certified Notary Public, and a New York State Certified School Counselor. Darren has taught career development, college success, and psychology at higher education institutions, non-profit organizations, and private events for over 25 years. 


His successful work with individual clients and groups involves providing counseling, coaching, guidance, and mentorship with their career path and assisting them with assessing and planning, taking concrete action steps toward finding a fulfilling career, as well as preparing them for the job market and application process. 


In recognition of Darren’s service to his students and clients, he was awarded the State University of New York’s Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Professional Service.


In his free time, Darren enjoys travel, theatre, music, film, true crime documentaries, and food, glorious food!

  • I don't know what I want to do. How can you help me?

    You are in the right place!


    It sounds like you need to meet with a career counselor. We can help you to assess and reflect about yourself, explore career options, and then set you on an action plan! 

  • My resume is old, not updated, and needs a refresh. How can you help?

    As Certified Professional Resume Writers, we can help you to start from scratch to create a new, modern-looking, and dynamic resume for today's job market. We also do resume reviews of your existing document and teach you how to update it on your own. We will show you do's, don'ts, best practices, and ways to best align your resume to the positions you intend to apply for. 

  • I do not have a LinkedIn profile. Do I really need one?

    YES, you must have a LinkedIn profile for today's job market. It will help you connect and network with others, and learn about job openings that you can apply to. 


    We will help you create, develop, and optimize your LinkedIn profile to get noticed and attract employers, hiring managers, and colleagues in your desired field. 

  • I've been in my career field for a while now. But I think I'm developing burnout. How can you help me?

    You are not alone. Many professionals experience burnout, especially if you're in a position that you're no longer excited by, if you're in a toxic workplace, or for any other reason.


    Our counseling and coaching strategies help you verbalize your issues, discuss your tolerance for change, possibly with a pivot to another field, and then set a personalized plan that is curated just for you. We want you to be happy about your profession, and we will everything we can to help you get happy. When you're happy, we're happy!


  • Ok, I know you are not FREE. How much do your services cost?

    First of all, you can email or call us to schedule a FREE phone consultation so that we can meet you and understand what you're looking for. 


    Your first one-on-one session (lasting 45-60 minutes) is $150. Subsequent sessions start at $150-$180 (the actual price depends on the service we provide and if we administer any career assessments as part of your career counseling or coaching sessions). 


    Our referral incentive program will help you save money on your sessions. For every referral (colleague, friend, family member, etc.) that schedules and attends their first session, you will receive a $20 credit toward your next session. There is no limit on how much you can save!


    We also offer discount session packages to help you save up to 20%. Ask us for more information when you reach out! 


    Our group workshops, events, and special programs have separate and variable pricing, generally ranging from $500-$5000 per event.


    When we correspond with you, we will review the costs as well as our policies and procedures.
